Had to change browsers to upload picture!

Tuesday November 25

I am unable to post pictures today, but not sure why .  I am still working on the BOM from P3 Designs, assembling the quilt top now.  When it is together, I have the 4 corners to applique but I have done all the prep work so they shouldn't take too long.  Of course, going into the holiday season I will probably not find a lot of time to work on it.

I have worked on several charity quilts recently, still doing some stash busting.

Yesterday I received a lovely package from a friend containing some lovely fabrics from the Robert Kaufman line called Under the Australian Sun.  I have not seen this before and absolutely love it.  The colors match my living area perfectly, so I think a new wallhanging will happen.  I wish I was able to share a picture of it with you.

My local quilt guild has suffered a serious loss this week.  Our Program Chairman, Wanda, passed away suddenly on Sunday morning.  She was incredibly creative and was the life behind our small guild, always coming up with projects.  We will miss her terribly.  Rest in peace, my friend.  We were blessed to know you.

Taking a break from my Thanksgiving prep, but I must return to the kitchen now.  Happy Thanksgiving to all my USA friends.

October 15, 2014

I am continuing to work on my applique quilt from P3 Designs 2014 BOM.  This is a very wrinkled picture of it as I am doing the embellishments by machine.  I have 3 of the final borders completed and plan to start the 4th final border later today.  We will be doing some traveling this week so I will be able to work on it in the car.

Here is a picture of a few of my Dear Jane blocks.  These fabrics are totally out of my comfort zone but I found a package of fat quarters that just yelled "Dear Jane" at me.  I have enlarged the 4 1/2 inch blocks to 6 inches but now I am starting to wonder if that was a good idea.  I have almost 40 blocks completed but I do have enough fabric to start over again.  Have to spend some time thinking about that!

Still working on some stash busting, making a few charity quilts, but the stash seems to multiply itself.

I found a lightweight sewing machine, reasonably priced, so I can once again bring a machine to our guild meetings.  We generally work on a block that can be used in a charity quilt and I was feeling badly that I wasn't bringing a heavy machine due to my back problems.  The new machine weighs just 13 pounds and seems to stitch very nicely.  I will spend some time with it tomorrow to get used to its features.

I hope everyone has a great week.  I will not be able to post for the next couple of weeks.

September 24, 2014

Here is one of the blocks from Pearl Periera's 2014 BOM.  It is going to be a gorgeous quilt!  I am currently working on the second of the 4 borders so I am definitely making progress.  Hand applique is my first love, but I have taken some time this week to do some machine piecing on charity quilts.  I have two of them pieced now and one is almost quilted.
I love doing charity quilts from scraps.   I really need to work on some stash busting  This pattern is called Patience Corner.  It is really simple to do, but it works out just great.  Well, that's it for today, the quilting machine is calling my name.

Wow, I cannot believe it is over a year since I last blogged.  Sometimes life just gets in the way.

I lost several months last winter to a serious back problem.  After months of chiropractic and physical therapy, I am mostly healed.  I still need to be very conscious of what I do, no lifting, etc., but I am so much better now.

My stitching suffered some, but I am finally back to it.  I made a decision several months ago to stop making large quilts and concentrate on wallhangings and small quilts.  And also to use up a lot of my stash on charity quilts.

I have finished Esther's Aliu's Love Entwined center and it is proudly hanging on the wall above my quilting machine.  I would like to have made the entire quilt, not just the center, but I have no room to display a large quilt and frankly, I am running out of storage space for all the quilts that I have.  And then again, there was that resolution to NOT make anymore large quilts.  I am loving the size of this piece and the fact that I get to see it every day.

I am currently working on a hand applique quilt, a free BOM from Pearl Periera at P3 Designs.  I have all the blocks done now and am almost finished with the first of the 4 borders.  I will post pictures of it next week.

That's all for now.  It feels good to be back blogging again and I will be sure to keep up with it now.

Have a great week!
